John Clayton of ESPN has reported that as of last night there is still no agreement between the Detroit Lions and Matthew Stafford QB Georgia but that there main focus is signing him before the draft.
They have been negotiating with Stafford, Curry, and Smith but all attention now seems to be on Stafford. Obviously, the factor is the money right now but Stafford is quoted as saying he would love to play for Detroit.
Where does this leave the Bengals? I have read countless posts that if Curry does indeed fall and is sitting there at #6 the Bengals should not hesitate and pick him.
I am not doubting Curry's freakish ability but looking back in recent years on Bengals 1st Round LB picks have not worked out or have been unluckily thwarted by nature itself.
David Pollack-Career ending Neck Injury
Odell Thurman-Out of league
Keith Rivers-Awesome athlete season ending broken jaw. I know freak hit and I hope he recovers and brings back that talent he had in the first few games but I am just saying 1st Round LB jinx.
On the flip side though Curry would be a nice fit next to Rivers but seriously do we really need to keep stockpiling defense players. The time is now to start stockpiling some protection for Carson and help the running game. Bring in a bunch of OL players to compete and push each other to turn this team around.
the CSF still thinks Andre Smith would be the BEST pick at #6 but the verdict is out on how Brown and the Bengals will surprise us all at the 2009 Draft!
