Okay let me start with the same rant as many other Bengals bloggers. First, it was he is our Fourth String back. He is insurance. He will be inactive this weekend against Oakland. That is what we heard. Now, he is on the field. He will be active this weekend. He might start if Cedric's hammie doesn't come around.
It is a 50/50 split on this controversy. Many say this is going to cause disunity, problems, etc. I am in the other half. I think this is great. C'mon Larry Johnson was and could be still a stud back. He is built in the same mold as Benson. Can you imagine if he starts clicking with this offense?? Give Cedric Benson a little bit of rest. There is no way he will continue to be as productive as he has been if he doesn't start getting some reps off. That is no disrespect to Benson but c'mon a body can only take so much in the NFL. I think LJ will compliment nicely if he can rekindle his career here in Cincinnati.
Other news surfacing from Bengaldom is that they worked out WR Joey Galloway, DB Mike Doss, and DT Ed Johnson. Galloway would be good insurance if any other WR's hit an injury spell. A great deep threat for Carson Palmer. Mike Doss played a bit for the Bengals last year but I think his college days are the only thing to speak of and his pro career laced with injuries has not been good to him. Johnson is in the mold of what everyone thinks of a typical Bengal pickup. He was in trouble with the law back in 2008, so why not. Everyone else that has had bad spells with the law have meshed together for some reason this year and stayed out of trouble.
It is doubtful that any of these guys get picked up but it is nice to see the Bengals in a position pro-active in making a strong push to Miami!!
